Introduction

QA Session Recorder & Report Generator (“we”, “our”, or “the Extension”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome Extension collects, uses, and protects your information while you use it.

1. Information Collection

Our extension is designed to act as a transparent testing and recording utility. We do not collect any data silently in the background. Data collection occurs only during an active session explicitly initiated by you.

During an active session, the Extension captures the following user interactions to generate test reports:

• Navigation Events: URLs (including query parameters) and page titles.
• User Actions: Click targets, element labels, checkbox toggles, and dropdown selections.
• Form Inputs: Values typed into input fields (truncated to a maximum of 30 characters).
• Screenshots: Captured only when you manually trigger the screenshot functionality.

The extension only records data while a session is active. You can start and stop recording at any time, and no data is collected outside of an active session.

2. Sensitive Data Protection

We prioritize your privacy and explicitly filter out sensitive information. The extension is strictly programmed to ignore and exclude:

• Any inputs where the field type is password or hidden.
• Fields identifying themselves (via ID or name) as containing passwords, authentication tokens, secrets, or financial information (e.g., credit card details, CVV).

The extension does not collect sensitive personal data such as passwords, payment information, authentication tokens, or confidential user inputs.

3. How We Use the Data

Any data captured is restricted to your session and is used exclusively for:

• Generating structured QA test reports (HTML or JSON) at your request.
• Creating formatted bug reports and sending them to your connected Jira project.

4. Data Storage and Security

• All recorded session steps, user interactions, and manually logged bugs are stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s local storage (chrome.storage.local).
• Jira authentication tokens (if configured) are stored locally within your browser and are not shared externally.
• We do not transmit or store your data on external servers, analytics systems, or third-party databases.

Data is only sent externally when you explicitly initiate an action (such as sending a bug report to your connected Jira project).

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
Data is only shared with services you explicitly integrate with (such as Jira), and only when you initiate that action.

6. UI Transparency

During any active recording session, a clear visual indicator (🔴 Session Active) is displayed on the screen at all times.

This ensures full transparency and informs you that session recording is in progress. When the indicator is no longer visible, no data is being recorded.

7. Your Control and Rights

You have full control over your data at all times:

• You can start or stop a recording session at any time.
• You can delete stored session data by clearing your browser storage.
• Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in functionality or legal requirements. Updates will be reflected by revising the effective date above.

Data may be transmitted to third-party services (such as Jira) only when the user explicitly initiates an export action. No automatic background transmission occurs. The extension does not collect data for advertising, tracking, or analytics purposes.
